Planitis (Kyra Panagia)

39° 20.8′ N · 24° 4.3′ E

A near-landlocked, fjord-like natural harbour on Kyra Panagia's north coast — often flat as a lake in a storm, with only goats for neighbours and no phone signal. One of only two places in Zone A where you may spend the night.

Practical

Zone A: buy the online park ticket before entering. Entrance is narrowest at 85 m with a minimum 6.4 m; no passage west of Sfika islet, which guards it; entering or leaving in over 30 knots, especially from the north, is dangerous. Inside: excellent all-round protection, enough room to lie to all your chain. Endexio (east bay, 39.34531, 24.07855): in N–NE anchor in front of the house over mud (solid); in NW use the opposite corner (39.34411, 24.07630). Dravi (west bay, 39.34362, 24.06946): mostly under 1.5 m, thick mud and clay with superb holding, near Laspi cove; lines to rocks to the west. A fishermen's shelter cave lies just inside on starboard (good in NW). MarinaTips: 8–10 m sand. Water can turn murky after storms; rubbish on the bottom and fly-tipping on the beach — bring bags. Disembarking is not allowed (official rules); stern anchor on the beach is tolerated, hiking inland is forbidden (Sailing Issues). About 10 nm from Steni Vala.
