Gerakas (Alonissos)

39° 16.3′ N · 23° 56.7′ E

A deep inlet at Alonissos' northern tip with a small mole for fishing boats and park vessels, a research station and fresh fish straight from the fishermen.

Practical

Use only the outer third of the mole, stern-to — one of the few Aegean ports where Sailing Issues advises going alongside if there is space. 4.2 m at the red light, but a 1.3 m obstruction lies 28 m west of the red light (not on C-Map or Imray/GWP). Rocky bottom with old chains and litter. Prevailing N–E winds funnel in; fierce gusts can blow inside when it is calm outside. Alternative: Tourkiko Mnima cove on the east side, anchor in 5–7 m with lines ashore. Summer food truck ('Kantina'). The bay is park zone B2 (Gerakas fishing harbour and research station).
