Monastery Cove (Monastiri, Kyra Panagia)
39° 19.5′ N · 24° 5.6′ E
A small cove on Kyra Panagia's east coast below the island's monastery — the only place on the island where landing is permitted.
Practical
Daytime only (sunrise to sunset): no overnight. Open to N–SE; a prevailing NE wind sets up a nasty swell — approach only in good conditions. Sand and weed in the deeper middle at 9–15 m, mediocre holding; anchor or take a line ashore. In low season you may lie stern-to the rock jetty with steps up to the monastery (Sailing Issues). Visitors may reach the monastery only by the trail from this beach (official rules). Few charter yachts come here.
Best for
Daytime landing to visit the monastery
Season
Calm days only; daylight hours
