Psara East Cove (Limnos Beach)

38° 32.4′ N · 25° 34.6′ E

A secluded cove about 1 nm east of the harbour, very safe and well protected from the meltemi — a quieter, less dusty alternative to the quay.

Practical

Anchor in about 4 m with plenty of scope; sand with some slate, so the anchor may not always hold first time but is secure when set (CruisersWiki — a contributor sat out a force 8 meltemi here twice). Dinghy landing: watch the shallow ring of rocks off the beach. Town is a 20-minute walk by a coastal path. Noonsite: three coves NE of the port give perfect shelter from the meltemi. The beach here is Lemnos, one of the island's largest (ferryhopper).

Best for

Meltemi-proof overnight on Psara
