Port Augusta (Arki)
37° 22.8′ N · 26° 44.1′ E · approximate
A natural, fully meltemi-proof inlet guarded by Marathi, Strongyli and Agreloussa, with a low concrete quay below Arki's tiny village and three family tavernas.
Practical
Coordinate approximate: placed mid-inlet just south of the village quay and tavernas mapped by OSM, checked against the OSM coastline (no published waypoint found). Town quay takes 6–10 boats stern-to; 2.5–2.9 m in the middle and east sections, west end only for catamarans; rocks limit scope. Dangerous shoal about 45 m off the west end of the quay. Good holding in sand/mud with some weed; no swell. Mooring is free; no water, no electricity, no assistance. Clean showers in the white building near the square (reportedly €5; verify locally). Ferry quay at the entrance usable when no ferry is due; otherwise anchor east of it with a line to the east shore. In August arrive well before noon; if full, take a line ashore on the west side without blocking fishermen (Sailing Issues). No fuel, no water, no bakery; the mini-market is closed; fresh produce only when the ferry comes. Nearest diesel is the ARGO station on the south side of Lipsi port (about 5 nm south) or Skala on Patmos; arrive at Arki with full water tanks.
