Ormos Steno (Arki)
37° 23.3′ N · 26° 43.4′ E · approximate
A very narrow inlet on Arki with excellent meltemi protection that fishermen simply call 'the harbour', with Taverna Apolafsi ashore.
Practical
Coordinate approximate and inferred: no published waypoint was found, so it is placed in the only narrow north–south inlet on Arki's west coast in the OSM coastline, which matches Sailing Issues' description of a narrow inlet next to the south-facing Glipapa bay — confirm on the chart before use. Four flimsy white plastic buoys on a heavy N–S chain: innermost 1.5 m within its swing, second 2 m, the two outer at least 2.8 m — only the two southern buoys suit monohulls; use a bridle. No room to swing on anchor; Turkish-style mooring (anchor plus stern line) on the NW shore south of the buoys in 4–8 m (sand, rock, weed). If you use a buoy, dine at the family-run Taverna Apolafsi (no reservations). Greek Waters Pilot wrongly merges Steno and Glipapa into 'Port Stretto' (Sailing Issues).
Best for
Meltemi-proof buoy and a family taverna
Season
Jun–Sep (meltemi months); best May–Jun and Sep
