Marathi Anchorage
37° 22.0′ N · 26° 43.7′ E · approximate
A sandy, secluded bay on the east coast of tiny Marathi, with taverna moorings, excellent snorkelling and a handful of residents — the classic lazy stop between Patmos, Lipsi and Arki.
Practical
Coordinate approximate: placed in the east-coast bay just south-east of the tavernas mapped by OSM, checked against the OSM coastline. 6–10 well-maintained buoys (about six red ones belong to Pantelis restaurant), set close together so max LOA about 45 ft; assumed in place only from end of May to early October; no booking and no help picking them up. With all buoys taken, or out of season, there is hardly any secure seabed — anchor and take a line to the north shore. Buoys, old concrete blocks and tackle foul the bottom (Sailing Issues). Residents depend on a water tanker; electricity by solar and a cable from Arki. No fuel, no tap water for yachts, no shop and no bakery on Marathi: provision in Lipsi or Skala and arrive with full tanks; nearest diesel is Lipsi port. Sailing Issues mentions no buoy fee — the buoys belong to the tavernas, and dining there is the courtesy, not an obligation. Tavernas open in the summer months only.
