Myrties–Telendos Anchorage

36° 59.3′ N · 26° 55.8′ E

The strait between Myrties/Masouri on Kalymnos and the sheer bulk of Telendos, with the tiny Myrties harbour and the Telendos village quay on either side. It's the island's climbing-and-taverna strip.

Practical

Myrties harbour has room for only two yachts side-to inside the mole: reasonable protection, several tavernas. Off Telendos village (east side of Telendos) there is reasonable meltemi shelter but poor holding on sand, rock and weed. Disused mooring blocks in 6–7 m off the village can trap an anchor (diver needed), so look for a clear sand patch. Two underwater cables cross the area, so anchor well clear. Anchor close inshore: a passing ferry damaged a yacht in 2003. Best as a settled-weather lunch stop. Water taxis run constantly between Myrties and Telendos.

Best for

Lunch stop under the cliffs; access to Telendos and Masouri

Season

Settled weather; poor holding
