Telendos Village Anchorage (Telendos)

36° 59.9′ N · 26° 55.4′ E · approximate

Anchoring off the east side of Telendos village at the south of the island, the Telendos side of the channel from Myrties, within a short swim or dinghy ride of the jetty tavernas.

Practical

Cruising-guide reports (see the Myrties–Telendos Anchorage entry): reasonable meltemi shelter but poor holding (sand, rock, weed). Disused mooring blocks in 6–7 m off the village can foul an anchor. Two underwater cables cross the area, so stay well clear. Anchor close inshore out of the ferry track. A passing ferry damaged a yacht here in 2003. Go ashore at the village jetty, which is busy with water taxis. Lunch and evening stop in settled conditions; for an overnight with better holding, Vathi or Pothia are safer. Approximate coordinate: about 200 m east of the village quay in the channel.
