Potha Bay (Telendos)

37° 0.3′ N · 26° 55.5′ E · approximate

The bay on Telendos' east coast just north of the village, facing Masouri across the channel, with the island's most accessible beach and calm, shallow water.

Practical

No cruising-guide description of anchoring specifically at Potha was found. The channel hazards listed under the Myrties–Telendos Anchorage entry apply here too: poor holding on sand, rock and weed, two underwater cables crossing the area, and ferry and water-taxi traffic. Anchor in a clear sand patch, swim the anchor, and treat it as a settled-weather day stop. Gusts come down off the 450 m mountain in the meltemi. The beach is partly organized with calm, shallow water (Greeka). Approximate coordinate: about 150 m offshore of the municipal Potha beach pin (37.00472, 26.92408).
