Linaria Harbour (Skyros)

Skyros' only real port and ferry harbour, tucked into a deep bay on the west coast below the little fishing village of Linaria. The quay has a small, well-run municipal marina section with laid moorings, and the bay gives what one skipper calls superb protection in poor weather.

Capacity 17 yacht berths (Linaria Port Fund); depths 3.5–10 m. Laid moorings: 2,800 kg concrete blocks about 35 m off the dock in 5–7 m, with 22 mm chain and line — come in stern-first as harbour staff direct and do not drop your own anchor in the berths. Yachts under 25 m LOA with 3.5–4 m draught use the inner eastern dock; vessels over 25 m may anchor at least 45 m off the dock. Call the port assistant on VHF 9 (port office tel +30 22220 96036; reception 9:00 am–9:00 pm). Fees are paid in advance at the marina kiosk and are not refunded if you leave early (amounts not published — verify locally; a 2013 log paid €13 for two nights). Water and shore power (16–63 A) on the quay — the port site says free for sailing vessels, but no boat washing because of water shortage, and keep holding tanks closed. Showers/WC and Wi-Fi (password from staff), coin laundry 9:00 am–9:00 pm next to the showers, ATM, press kiosk, rubbish and oil/battery disposal. Fuel: the port site says it is delivered from the island's gas stations; OpenStreetMap shows a Shell station by the harbour. The ferry Achilleas (to Kymi, Evia) dominates the quay — keep its berth clear. Berths fill by early afternoon in summer (mySea); a live webcam on linariaport.gr shows free berths. In the meltemi expect strong gusts and a confused sea at the entrance (mySea; a 2013 crew met 35 kn gusts coming in).
