Meltemi Gusts at Skyros
38° 50.4′ N · 24° 31.8′ E · approximate
In July–September the meltemi blows from the north and north-east across Skyros. Gusts drop off the mountains into Linaria bay and the south-coast anchorages, and the north and east coasts take heavy seas.
Practical
mySea warns of strong gusts and a confused sea at Linaria in the meltemi. A sailor praises Linaria as a haven in poor weather. Achilli port is exposed and mySea says entry is forbidden above Force 5. The south-west coast (the Southern Anchorage, Kalamitsa, Pefkos) gives the lee. Sail Aegean notes Sporades winds are usually up to Force 5 from the north. The position marks Linaria bay.
