Acherounes Bay — Linaria Cove (Skyros)
38° 51.0′ N · 24° 32.1′ E
The sandy bay immediately north of Linaria harbour, backed by the hamlet and beach of Acherounes — the obvious place to anchor when the quay is full, with the harbour's tavernas a short dinghy ride away.
Practical
Sand, about 6 m; a sailor reports calm conditions (Grecosailor). You can leave the dinghy in Linaria port and take a taxi or bus up to Chora and the castle for the day. Open to the south and south-west; in the meltemi the bay is in the lee of the land but gusts come down off the hills — set the anchor well. No facilities in the bay itself; everything is in Linaria.
Best for
Overflow anchorage for Linaria
Season
May–Oct; avoid in strong southerlies
