Kos Port of Entry — Port Police, Immigration & Customs
36° 53.7′ N · 27° 17.2′ E
Kos is an official Greek port of entry (Noonsite), and the place to clear in or out for the Turkish coast (Bodrum is about 25 nm away). Formalities are handled around the old harbour, not at the marina.
Practical
After the 2017 earthquake damaged their building, immigration moved to the ferry terminal on the opposite side of the harbour; bring 2 crew lists. Customs is also there; only non-EU-flag yachts need to stop at customs. Port authority fee reported as 15 EUR (Noonsite comment, May 2019; verify locally). Kos Marina has not been a port of entry since at least 2015 (mySea comment). Coordinate is the OpenStreetMap 'Police and customs' building by the old harbour; the ferry terminal is at about 36.8986 N, 27.2905 E (OSM). For Greece-Turkey crossings, Sailing Issues advises using an agent, clearing out through customs and passport control, then port police, and reporting immediately on arrival in Turkey; see the area entry for e-Transit Log, TEPAI and DEKPA. Keep to Greek waters until cleared: the border north and east of Kos is close and partly disputed (Sailing Issues gives approximate borderline coordinates).
