Karpathos Port Authority & Entry Status (Pigadia)

35° 30.5′ N · 27° 12.7′ E · approximate

The Hellenic Coast Guard's Port Authority (Limenarchio) for Karpathos sits in Pigadia beside the harbour. Karpathos is not a port of entry, so yachts arriving from outside Greece (Turkey, for example) must clear in elsewhere first, then show their papers here.

Practical

Port Authority Karpathos, Pigadia 85700: +30 22450 22227, karpathos@hcg.gr (allovergreece; the same number is given by aegeanislands.gr, travel.gr and the MarinaTips New Port listing). Ordinary police station: +30 22450 22222 (aegeanislands.gr; travel.gr gives 22223), tourist police +30 22450 22212, emergencies 112. Entry status: Noonsite's list of Greek ports of entry has no port on Karpathos or Kasos; the nearest in the Dodecanese is Rhodes (Mandraki), then Symi, Kos and Kalymnos; in Crete, Agios Nikolaos and Iraklion. Practice for check-in at non-entry ports varies: Noonsite commenters report that some port police want every arrival to report, while others only check non-EU boats on a Transit Log. Go ashore with the e-Transit Log (DEKPA), registration, insurance, crew list, passports and TEPAI receipt. At Diafani, MarinaTips notes that the coast guard will advise mooring or anchoring options. Coordinate approx: placed on the Pigadia harbour quay, where the office is; ask on the waterfront for the exact building.
