Kamiros Skala Harbour

36° 16.4′ N · 27° 49.5′ E

A small ferry quay and fishing harbour on Rhodes' west coast with Alimia on the horizon: the jumping-off point for Halki and well sheltered from the meltemi.

Practical

Sailing Issues: good shelter from the meltemi; open to the north but safe in SE–W winds. The Halki ferry docks here, so ask the fishermen for a berth. The quay is 1.8 m above sea level, so you need a good passerelle or fenders and a step. Anchoring in the bay is advised only in southerlies, and swell quickly makes the quay uncomfortable. About 300 m west of the port and about 40 m off the coast is a rock awash. A taverna and pension (Liros) is just inland (OSM). Ancient Kamiros is about 10 minutes away by car.

Best for

Staging for the Halki crossing

Season
