A Dorian city laid out on three terraces down a hillside above the sea: acropolis and Athena's temple at the top, a grid of streets in the middle, and an agora, fountain house and Doric temple below. It was destroyed by earthquakes in 226 BC and AD 142.

Practical

Greeka: about 32 km from Rhodes town. A 6th-century BC reservoir that served about 400 families sits under the stoa. Reach it by car or taxi from Kamiros Skala or Fanes. Check hours and tickets locally; little shade.
