Hohlaki Black Pebble Beach (Nisyros)
36° 36.6′ N · 27° 7.8′ E
Mandraki's beach of shiny black pebbles, worn from the island's oldest pillow lavas, which rattle in the waves; the name comes from the sound.
Practical
Below the cliffs of the castle and Panagia Spiliani, reached on foot along the coast from Mandraki (Nisyros Geopark, Hohlaki-Kanoni route). The Geopark describes the pebbles sloshing in the Aegean waves, so swim only when it is calm.
Best for
A short walk from Mandraki
