Filerimos Monastery

36° 23.9′ N · 28° 8.7′ E

Hilltop Gothic monastery of Panagia Filerimos, built by the Knights in the 15th century on the acropolis of ancient Ialysos. Peacocks roam the pines and the views run over the north coast.

Practical

About 14 km from Rhodes town (Greeka); go by taxi or hire car. The ruins of ancient Ialysos are on the same hill (OSM 36.39828, 28.14640). Sailing Issues: 'a nice day trip with peacocks as a bonus'. Check opening hours and tickets locally.
