Damouchari (East Pelion)

39° 24.2′ N · 23° 11.0′ E · approximate

A tiny former fishing village on Pelion's Aegean coast with a natural harbour, two bays, a pebble beach (Palia Damouchari) and Byzantine–Venetian castle ruins. Scenes from Mamma Mia! were filmed here in 2007.

Practical

The position is approximate, set just offshore of the OpenStreetMap Damouchari beach. Check it on your chart. No published depth or holding data was found. This is the exposed Aegean side of Pelion: Wikivoyage warns that the north-east beaches can have big waves, and Sail Aegean notes the northern coasts take the strongest wind and sea. Visit only in settled, light-wind weather. It is the port of Mouresi, 4 km uphill, and 46 km from Volos by road. The Church of Agios Nikolaos dates from 1744.
