Amaliapoli (Pagasetic Gulf)

39° 10.1′ N · 22° 53.5′ E · approximate

A quiet fishing village and Greek family resort on the west side of the gulf, founded in 1835 as the northern frontier village of the new Greek state. It has a gently shelving sandy beach, a chapel islet in the bay and fish tavernas full of Volos day-trippers at weekends.

Practical

The position is approximate, off the OpenStreetMap village node. Check it on your chart. Sail Aegean says you can tie up on the quay or anchor in the eastern side of the bay and dinghy ashore. It is about 1.5 hours from Trikeri on the way to Volos. Wikivoyage: two small family supermarkets at the north end of the waterfront, a butcher, two bakeries and a post office; fish tavernas include Nikos Repakis Psarotaverna (tsipouro-and-meze). Watch for sea urchins on the rocks. The islet of Agios Nikolaos (Kikynthos), with its 1805 church, is in the bay. It is busy with Athenians in August.
