Palaio Trikeri Harbour

39° 9.2′ N · 23° 4.6′ E · approximate

The small fishing harbour of Palaio Trikeri, a 2.5 km² olive-covered island at the mouth of the Pagasetic Gulf. It is the classic first night out of Volos, with a couple of tavernas serving just-caught fish and tsipouro with endless meze.

Practical

The position is approximate, just south of the OpenStreetMap settlement node. Check it on your chart. It is 14–15 nm from Volos (Sail Aegean, Odyssey Sailing) and described as a safe harbour with traditional tavernas. If the village noise and lights bother you, Pithos bay next door is quieter, a 15-minute walk away. Isalos taverna serves crayfish spaghetti and octopus stifado (+30 2423 055862, Sail Aegean). Odyssey says the island has two fabulous tavernas. About 59 residents (2011). A taxi-boat runs from Alogoporos on the mainland (Wikivoyage). Sail Aegean's rule for the area: a full 60 m of chain and a line ashore.
