Vagia Beach (Serifos)

37° 7.7′ N · 24° 27.7′ E

The first cove of Koutalas bay, also called Chalara: coarse golden sand, emerald water and coloured pebbles that make it good for snorkelling.

Practical

SailingIssues calls Vagia/Chalara 'very useful in southerly winds', with unexpected all-round shelter and good holding through weed, but strong gusts are likely. mySea (3-8 m) says it is not recommended in a strong meltemi but is a good alternative to the other Koutalas anchorages in calm weather. Ashore: a few umbrellas and no natural shade (e-serifos). The church of Agios Konstantinos at Vagia holds its feast on May 21 (municipal calendar).

Best for

Southerly-wind refuge and snorkelling
