Trypiti Bay (Ios)

36° 39.3′ N · 25° 20.7′ E · approximate

A remote south-west-coast cove under the Trypiti cape, reached ashore only through a narrow canyon. It gives adequate shelter in strong northerlies.

Practical

Position approx: Sailing Issues' waypoint (36.65632N 25.34751E) falls on land on the OSM coastline (the cove is a narrow inlet), so it has been moved about 300 m south-west to the cove mouth, about 100 m from either shore. Feel your way in on the sounder. Sailing Issues: adequate shelter in strong northerlies. The NE cove is too shallow for keel boats (mostly under 2 m) and the area is uncharted. Sand, rock and weed, so double-check the anchor. Open to winds from SE through to WNW. No services.
