Spathi Bay Anchorage (Kea)

37° 38.7′ N · 24° 24.1′ E

A long sand beach in a deep inlet on Kea's remote east coast, with a single lounge-bar and clear water. In the meltemi it is excellent and very quiet.

Practical

Anchor in sand with weed patches at the deeper end in about 5 m (aegeanislands). Excellent shelter from NW-N meltemi (sailingissues). Keep close to the rocky north coast on the approach. The smaller cove just north (Sidirou, about 37.6506 N 24.4081 E) is better in S-NW winds and good for snorkelling. A trendy lounge-bar/restaurant is ashore. Kea Trail 10 'Hydroussa' (4.8 km) comes down a shaded gorge to Spathi beach. The coordinate is the OpenSeaMap anchorage symbol.

Best for

Quiet east-coast meltemi anchorage
