Skaros Rock (Imerovigli)
36° 26.0′ N · 25° 25.2′ E
A volcanic headland jutting into the caldera below Imerovigli, crowned by the scant ruins of the medieval castle that was Santorini's capital until the 18th century.
Practical
About a 15-minute walk from the Imerovigli bus stop on a marked trail starting at Agios Georgios church; it is a detour off the Fira-Oia hike (add 45-60 minutes). Earthtrekkers warns that winds on the rock can be extreme. Coordinates are the castle ruins (OSM). The castle was ruined by a 19th-century earthquake. Under post-2025 safety rules some cliff paths can be closed after seismic events, so check locally.
