Anafi's greatest feast, the Zoodochos Pigi festival on September 8. The Virgin's icon is carried up Kalamos to the old Kalamiotissa monastery, spends a night there and is brought back down.

Coordinates: Zoodochos Pigi monastery (OSM). Pilgrims arrive by boat and climb on mules (Greeka). Expect Monastiri bay to be crowded with local boats; arrive the day before. Other Anafi events: Yakinthia, a three-day festival of sport, dance, music, food and wine in mid-August, which draws visitors from Santorini; Profitis Ilias on July 20; Agios Dimitrios on October 27 in Madourlo (Greeka).
