Moutsouna Harbour (Naxos)
37° 4.6′ N · 25° 35.3′ E
The old emery-loading port of the east coast. Rusting cranes, rails and an aerial ropeway still stand over a small sandy cove with three fish tavernas.
Practical
Sailingissues: open to winds from NE round to SW. There are reefs and rocks, some awash, on the approach. Solid holding in sand in 3-9 m. Only the tip of the pier is usable; watch the cranes and the old railway. In strong northerlies, move to Hohlakas beach (37.07933, 25.59034). mySea's anchorage point (37.07614, 25.58967, 2-8 m) rates the holding bad, so set the anchor carefully. Tavernas: To Dichti (+30 22850 68255) and Ostria (+30 22850 68235), per Greeka. Responsible authority: Port Authority of Naxos, +30 22850 22300 (GTP). A good base for the drive up to Apiranthos, 11 km away.
Best for
Westerly-wind stop with emery-mining history and fish tavernas
Season
