37° 3.1′ N · 25° 29.9′ E

The Assumption on 15 August is Naxos's biggest summer festival. The best-known celebration is at the 200-year-old church of Panagia Filotitissa in the mountain village of Filoti, with hundreds of pilgrims, music and dancing.

Practical

Greeka: feasts are held in villages and in Chora, but Filoti and Apiranthos are the best known, with dancing in Apiranthos in the afternoon. Ferries and roads are at peak traffic around 15 August, and so are harbours and anchorages. Book berths and crew travel early. Filoti is also the base for the Mount Zas hike. The position is the OSM village point.
