Kavia Bay Anchorage (Kea)

37° 34.7′ N · 24° 16.7′ E

The southern cove of the Koundouros complex, with a small beach and a watersports operation. It shares Koundouros's meltemi shelter, but it is noisier in high season.

Practical

Same bottom and shelter as Koundouros: sand and weed in 4-7 m, good from NW to ESE, with NE gusts. Sailingissues and sailors note a noisy watersports business at Kavia in July-August (OSM shows 'Water Action' on the beach), so expect jet-skis and towed inflatables near the swim area. Watch for the Koundouros reef about 300 m offshore and the rocks off Makryopounta. The coordinate is the OpenSeaMap anchorage symbol in Ormos Kavia.

Best for

Meltemi lunch stop; quieter outside July-August

Season

Jun-Sep; busy and noisy in Jul-Aug
