Katergo Snorkel (Folegandros)

36° 35.7′ N · 24° 57.0′ E · approximate

The crystal-clear water around the Katergo headland at Folegandros's south-east tip, mixing sand, weed patches and rock: the cleanest water on the island.

Practical

Position approx: the Grecosailor Katergo beach position, used as the swim-off point. folegandros.gr calls Katergo's water the cleanest and most crystal clear that can be visited; Grecosailor reports patches of weed and rock on the bottom. Snorkel early or late to avoid the day-trip caique from Karavostasis (about 10 minutes away). No shade, food or water ashore. Georgitsi Cave, on the coast towards the harbour, is a dinghy trip in calm water.
