Katergo Beach & Anchorage (Folegandros)

36° 35.7′ N · 24° 57.0′ E

Folegandros's most beautiful and wildest beach: a pale shingle-and-sand spit under the Katergo headland at the island's south-east tip, with brilliantly clear water and no road. Reach it by boat or a 30-minute hike.

Practical

Position from Grecosailor (36°35'40.4"N 24°57'00.3"E). Sand with weed and rock patches, so set the anchor carefully. Going ashore means a rocky climb and a dirt path to the road (Grecosailor). Shelter is not rated by the guides. The tourism site lists N, NW, W, SW and S as good winds for the beach; it is 1.2 nm south of the harbour. No shade, no water and no food, so bring everything (folegandros.gr). A local caique (Stella Express III, +30 694 555 8820) runs from Karavostasis in about 10 minutes, so it is busy at midday; arrive early or late. Wikipedia notes naturists use it. Georgitsi Cave is on the way from the port.
