Kalotaritissa Bay (Amorgos)
36° 47.6′ N · 25° 44.7′ E
A turquoise sand bay at Amorgos's south-west tip, sheltered by Gramvousa islet, with a taverna, a small quay and the Olympia shipwreck a short walk away.
Practical
Excellent holding in clean sand with plenty of depth (Grecosailor), but it gets busy with local boats. It is not as empty as the chart suggests: many permanent moorings and chains lie on the seabed, so use a trip line. Small catamarans may go stern-to the tiny quay near the taverna. In summer other boats anchor further east with less shelter from the prevailing wind (sailingissues). George Yachts: 3-5 m over sand and weed, with more all-round shelter at the south anchorage; mind the moorings and chains. The Olympia wreck is about 20 minutes' walk east. Transfer boats run to Gramvousa beach. TAPANEMO mini-market and café is up the hill (OSM).
Best for
