Gramvousa Northern Anchorage (Amorgos)

36° 48.5′ N · 25° 44.9′ E

A stern-to spot on the north side of Gramvousa islet off Amorgos's south-west tip, with water clear enough to snorkel straight off the stern.

Practical

Coordinates from Grecosailor (36°48'32.2"N 25°44'54.0"E): sand and seagrass; ideal for tying stern-to with great protection and easy snorkelling access. Sailingissues on Gramvousa: the east bay is superbly private but open to N-SE; the south bay has better all-round shelter and holding in sand and weed and is mildly meltemi-proof. At Gramvousa beach Grecosailor warns of wind shifts and fishing lines with baskets marked by small fenders. Anchor in sand, not on the seagrass. Kalotaritissa's tripper boats run to the islet in season.
