Practical

Position is the 'Tomb of Homer' in OSM. Visit Ios says the tradition goes that Homer stopped on Ios on his way to Samos and died of grief after failing to solve a riddle posed by the islanders. Ios coins of the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC are cited as evidence of the link, and the island also claims to be the birthplace of his mother, Kleimeni. Wikipedia calls the tomb 'supposed' and records travellers visiting it in the 1880s. Reach it by road from Chora or on foot from the beach after anchoring at Plakotos Bay (Ios). Little shade: take water and a hat.
