Psathi Bay (Ios)

36° 44.3′ N · 25° 21.9′ E

A wild, unorganised beach and tiny settlement on Ios's east coast, with a traditional taverna and the Ai Giannis monastery nearby.

Practical

Position from Grecosailor (36°44'20.0"N 25°21'53.0"E). Sand, rock and seagrass: look for the sandy spots on the south side. The rocky west side is good for snorkelling. Sailing Issues calls it rather exposed and only suitable in calm weather, and reports cables on the seabed (use a tripline). Ashore: a taverna on the beach (Grecosailor). Sailing Issues names the Alonistra taverna, a short walk inland. The road to Chora is about 20 km. The Agios Ioannis Prodromos fair is held here and at Kalamos in late August.
