Fikiada Bay (Kythnos)

37° 24.9′ N · 24° 22.9′ E

The bay on the east side of the Kolona sandbar. It is the meltemi side of the pair, where you anchor in sand and swim across to Kolona.

Practical

Very well protected from the meltemi and south-westerlies (kythnos.gr). Anchor in the middle of the small bay, to the north or south part depending on the wind, on sand with weed; the sandy area holds well (kythnos.gr). In the meltemi, take a stern line to the rocks on the north side. Rocks and reefs lie around the edges. Gusts come down off the ridges and can make it choppy, and anchors can drag (kythnos.net). The coordinate is the OpenSeaMap anchorage symbol in Ormos Fikiada.
