Alyko Headlands Snorkel (Naxos)
36° 58.6′ N · 25° 23.3′ E · approximate
The rocky points and reefs between the Alyko coves give the best easy snorkelling on Naxos's south-west coast, straight off the boat in the Alyko anchorage.
Practical
Greeka reviewers mention lots of fish in the clear water here. mySea marks underwater rocks just west of the anchorage (36.97671, 25.38755), and sailingissues warns of offshore islets and reefs along this coast, which is exactly what makes it worth snorkelling and why the dinghy needs care. Blue Fin Divers' Trapezaki reef (9-22 m, nudibranchs) is about half a mile from Alyko, too deep for snorkelling but a good guided dive. Swim with a tow float: dinghies and tour boats come into the coves. Position approx: rocks between the anchorage and Hawaii beach, derived from mySea and OSM.
