Akrotiri Lighthouse

36° 21.5′ N · 25° 21.4′ E

An 1892 stone lighthouse on the southwest tip of Santorini, guarding the southern entrance to the caldera. It is a fine sunset spot with views up the caldera to Oia.

Practical

Light Fl W 5s, range 24 nm (OpenSeaMap), a key mark when entering the caldera from the south or west. The tower stands about 10 m above the keeper's house (Greeka). By land: 5 km beyond the Akrotiri bus terminus, so take a taxi or car. From the sea, dangerous rocks and reefs fringe the headland; give it a wide berth.
