Red Beach (Santorini)

36° 20.8′ N · 25° 23.7′ E

A cove of black and red volcanic pebbles under a crumbling rust-red cliff, a ten-minute walk or a short dinghy ride from Akrotiri.

Practical

Prone to landslides: parts of the beach have been inaccessible since 2013 (Wikipedia). Stay out from under the cliff and obey closure signs. Sailingissues: open to the south; anchor off with a trip line. It is the shortest walk to the Akrotiri site from the water. The shore is rocky, so wear water shoes; snorkelling along the rock formations is good (Greeka). Crowded in July-August.
