Akrotiri Beach Anchorage & Buoys (Santorini)

36° 20.9′ N · 25° 24.1′ E

A south-facing bay in front of the excavated Bronze Age city at Akrotiri, with a dinghy dock at a fish taverna. It is the shortest walk from the water to Santorini's Pompeii.

Practical

Grecosailor: sand and seagrass, about 5 m on the east side; dinghy dock at the restaurant The Dolphins (Ta Delfinia); hourly bus from Akrotiri to Fira (EUR 2, verify locally). Sailingissues counts 12 or more pointed buoys plus 2 yellow buoys owned by Ta Delfinia (+30 22860 81151). In summer most buoys are reserved for tripper boats, so ask the restaurant. Good shelter from the N-NW meltemi under the Akrotiri peninsula, but open to the south, so leave if a southerly is forecast. Reefs and rocks fringe the headlands; approach in good light. Tripper catamarans run in and out mornings and around sunset.
