Agios Dimitrios Bay (Kythnos)

37° 18.9′ N · 24° 21.9′ E

A wide beach bay at Kythnos's southern tip, scattered with sea daffodils and next to the twin bay of Alyki. A few tavernas and a shop serve the holiday settlement.

Practical

Agios Dimitrios is open to SW-NW but usable in the meltemi; neighbouring Alyki is open to all westerlies (sailingissues). The channel between the two bays is charted at 2 m, so do not cut through in a deep-keel yacht. Water, provisions and tavernas are ashore (sailingissues); Akrogiali taverna is on the beach (OSM). A light marks Cape Agios Dimitrios. The coordinate is the sailingissues/OpenSeaMap marker.

Best for

Southern-tip stop before crossing to Serifos

Season

Meltemi OK; avoid in westerlies
