Flampouria Bay (Kythnos)

37° 22.0′ N · 24° 23.9′ E

A west-coast beach bay with a taverna below the rock-perched chapel of Panagia Flampouriani, where tradition says the Virgin's footprints lead up from the beach.

Practical

Anchor in 5 m at the north end of the beach. Holding is excellent and the bay is suitable even in N-NE meltemi storms (sailingissues). In southerlies, use the south-side beach. There is a taverna ashore (Flampourioti, OSM). The chapel's feasts are on 23 August and 8 September. The coordinate is the sailingissues/OpenSeaMap marker.

Best for

Strong-meltemi refuge on the west coast

Season
