Kanala Bay (Kythnos)
37° 20.7′ N · 24° 26.0′ E
The bay below the pilgrimage church of Panagia Kanala on Kythnos's south-east coast, with sandy beaches (Megali Ammos and Antonides), tavernas and a small pier.
Practical
Sailingissues says shelter is adequate in northerlies, but the bay is open to the south. Kythnos.gr and kythnos.net say it is weakly protected and exposed to SE winds, so treat it as a settled-weather or light-northerly stop. A reef lies about 0.3 nm south of Cape Kanala and another at the harbour entrance (kythnos.net), so approach with care. A small pier is on the east side. Tavernas include Archipelagos, Ofiousa and Cavo Kanala (OSM). Megali Ammos and Antonides beaches are nearby; Antonides is reached by steps. The coordinate is the sailingissues/OpenSeaMap marker.
