Temae Garden Eel Dive

17° 29.8′ S · 149° 45.4′ W · approximate

A coral garden on the northeast coast off Temae beach, known for a very large colony of garden eels swaying out of the sand.

Practical

Approximate: Moorea Blue Diving lists the site but publishes no position; pin set on the outer slope east of Temae public beach, ±500 m. Depth not published; ask the operator. Dived mainly by Moorea Blue Diving from the Manava resort at Maharepa (shop open 7am to 4:30pm daily, 2026). The northeast coast takes the full trade-wind swell, so the site is calm-day only. Temae beach is a popular public beach; stay outside the swim zone by boat. Feeding sharks and fish is prohibited (2026 brief). Under the 2025 anchoring decree divers may not use occupied ZMR moorings; dive with an operator or from a tended dinghy flying a dive flag.
