Humpback Whale Season (Moorea)

From July to the end of October humpbacks arrive from Antarctica to calve around Moorea, often seen near the passes and sometimes inside the lagoon.
Practical
Approximate pin off Vaiare Pass in the Sea of Moons, where crossing yachts most often meet whales. No approach in lagoons, passes or bays; 300 m minimum distance in open water; swim only with authorized operators. Water 21–27°C in austral winter. Reduce speed and keep a lookout in passes.
