Una'a Point Dive (Rurutu)
22° 25.7′ S · 151° 22.0′ W · approximate
Off Rurutu's northern tip by the airport, Una'a Point drops onto broad plateaus and coral formations several metres high, with visibility of 50 m or more, parrotfish, angelfish, emperors, whitetip sharks and passing tuna.
Practical
Approximate position: about 170 m off the north coast below the OSM village of Una'a (-22.4339, -151.3666); the exact site is not published. OSM maps a reef opening, Te Ava Nui, about 800 m west. No dive centre on Rurutu (Tahiti Tourisme): bring your own equipment and air. The north coast is the lee in a southerly but takes any N swell, so pick a calm day; the nearest harbour is Moerai, about 3.5 km SE by sea. Humpbacks pass close inshore Jul to Nov: keep the legal distances and do not dive near a mother and calf.
