Rurutu's biggest and most impressive cave, a cathedral of huge stalactites and stalagmites a few minutes' walk from the NW coast road, named after the French president who visited.
Practical
The only cave with a proper sign (Pitufa), a few minutes from the main road in Vitaria. Free access; guided visits can be arranged through guesthouses. Combine it with Marae Ta'aroa behind Pension Teautamatea nearby. Torch recommended.
