Tiareroa Pass Walls Dive (Ahe)
14° 27.4′ S · 146° 21.6′ W · approximate
Most Ahe drift dives run along the pass and the coral walls of Rahokoro and Taharuga motus, where grey, whitetip, blacktip, silvertip and sleeping sharks, occasional great hammerheads, manta and eagle rays, turtles, Napoleon wrasse and barracuda schools gather.
Practical
Placed at the pass entrance waypoint (Jacaranda 2016), approximate for the dive. Lagoon depths stay under 30 m but outside the reef the bottom plunges to 3,000 m. Dive on the flood near slack; no dive centre is listed on Ahe in our sources, so this is for self-sufficient divers with a tender.
