Rotoava Quay Water Tap

16° 3.3′ S · 145° 37.2′ W · approximate

A public tap of filtered rainwater behind the main pier, sold by the litre after you pay at the mairie. In a rain-fed atoll, every litre counts.

Practical

Pay at the town hall first: water is about 5 XPF per litre (2025 brief, indicative). In 2023 the mairie bundled 20 litres per boat per day into the trash and tourist fees (about 2,000 XPF for 2 weeks for 2 people; verify locally). In 2019 the tap was staffed only at set times, about 8-9 am and early afternoon, so ask at the mairie. Bring jerry cans; there is no hose to the quay for yachts. Do not waste it, since the locals depend on the same cisterns. Coordinate approx: placed at the Rotoava quay area, between Kaina Plongee (OSM, which Soggy Paws puts just north of the quay) and the public slipway (OSM). The building itself is not individually mapped.
